Frontier Community College Falls to Rend Lake in 14-4 Loss

Frontier struck first in the top of the first inning when Joaquin Gutierrez singled, driving in one run.
However, Rend Lake responded emphatically in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs on two hits to take a commanding 6-1 lead. The biggest blow came from Jack Harre, whose single drove in two runs.
Rend Lake extended its lead in the second inning when Camron Ande doubled to center field, making it 8-1.
The Warriors continued their offensive surge in the third, adding two more runs. Cadwell Turner singled down the left-field line, and Braden Pingel grounded out, each bringing home a run.
Alex Calhoun earned the win for Rend Lake, allowing four hits and one run over four innings while striking out four and walking three.
Joaquin Gutierrez led the way for Frontier, driving in two runs and going 3-for-4 at the plate. Gael Salinas also contributed with two hits in four at-bats. Kyler Stokes showed patience at the plate, drawing two walks as part of Frontier's eight total walks in the game. Isaiah Thompson was active on the basepaths, stealing two of the team's seven total stolen bases. Frontier also turned one double play.
Rend Lake racked up 13 hits in the game. Camron Ande, hitting seventh in the lineup, led the offense with four RBIs, finishing 3-for-5. Ande, Harre, Turner, and Colin McClure each collected three hits. The Warriors also displayed discipline at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Kemper Whisman and Colin McClure leading the team with two each. Braden Pingel stole two bases as part of Rend Lake's three stolen bases in the game. Defensively, the Warriors were flawless, committing no errors. Alex Calhoun had the most chances in the field with one.
Bobcats Baseball will host Wabash Valley College on Friday at 2 p.m. at FNB Field. The game will be live streamed on Bobcat Nation YouTube channel.
