Frontier Falls in High-Scoring Battle Against John A. Logan

John A. Logan College rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the first inning.
The Volunteers flipped the game in the top of the second, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field after a six-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
A single, a walk, and a double helped John A. Logan extend its lead in the third.
JALC added five more runs on three hits in the top of the fourth. A double scored two runs, a groundout brought home another, followed by an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to tack on two more.
The Bobcats scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ty Becker drew a walk to plate one, Sean McConachie doubled to drive in two, Nick Kaelin singled in a run, and Chance Pair added an RBI single.
The win went to a John A. Logan reliever who allowed no hits or runs in one inning of work, striking out one without issuing a walk. Kaelin Farr took the loss for Frontier. The right-hander pitched 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. The John A. Logan starter gave up five hits and seven runs over two innings, recording four strikeouts and two walks.
Frontier finished with 17 hits in the game. Ty Becker, Gael Salinas, and Nick Kaelin each collected three hits, while Sean McConachie and Joaquin Gutierrez each had multiple hits. McConachie also led the team with two walks, and the Bobcats showed solid discipline at the plate, drawing seven walks in total.
John A. Logan racked up 21 hits. Their middle-of-the-lineup bat led the way with six RBIs and went 3-for-6. Another standout went 4-for-5 to lead the team in hits. Several others chipped in with multiple-hit performances. As a team, they drew 11 walks, with four players collecting two apiece. They also stole four bases, with two players recording multiple steals.
Bobcats fall to 14-25 overall of the season, and will host Southwestern Illinois Thursday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at FNB Field. The game was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time. Tomorrow's game will be live streamed on Bobcat Nation.
