Early Lead Slips Away as Bobcats Fall to #22 JALC

Frontier struck first in the top of the opening inning, as Mayes Gosser grounded out to bring in a run and a Volunteers error plated another, giving the Bobcats an early 2-0 lead.
JALC responded quickly in the bottom of the first, tying the game at two on a home run to right field by Kameron Yearsley.
The Volunteers took control in the second inning, scoring five runs on six hits to grab a 7-2 lead. Yearsley delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run home run.
JALC continued to add on in the third, pushing across five more runs. The inning included a mix of timely hitting and Bobcat miscues, with RBIs coming from Bryce Nevils and Hayden Bates, along with runs driven in via hit-by-pitches and an error.
Frontier got a run back in the fourth when Jordan Carter launched a solo home run to left field.
The Volunteers answered again in the bottom half of the inning with five runs on three hits. Nevils highlighted the frame with a grand slam to center, while Hayden Bernreuter added a solo shot.
JALC's Logan Bingham earned the win, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings while striking out five and walking one. Landon Davis took the loss for FCC, surrendering seven runs on eight hits over two innings, with three strikeouts and one walk.
Troy Mann drove in two runs to lead the Bobcats, while Cam Napier recorded a team-high two hits. Frontier also turned one double play in the contest.
The Volunteers totaled 19 hits in the game. Nevils led JALC with six RBIs, going 3-for-4, while both Nevils and Yearsley recorded multiple home runs. Several Volunteers contributed multiple-hit performances, and JALC showed patience at the plate with nine walks. The Volunteers also turned two double plays defensively.
With the loss, Frontier falls to 21-10 overall and 8-5 in conference play. The Bobcats will return home Saturday to host JALC in a doubleheader at FNB Field, with first pitch set for 12 noon.
