Frontier Explodes for 19 Runs in Comeback Win Over Cobras

There were runs aplenty on Tuesday, March 31, as the Frontier Community College Bobcats outslugged the Parkland Cobras 19-13 at FNB Field. Frontier finished with 10 hits, while Parkland recorded nine in the high-scoring contest.
The Bobcats rallied in a big way after falling behind 6-0 in the second inning.
Parkland struck first in the opening frame when Ryan Kondrad singled to bring home a run. The Cobras added to their lead in the second, scoring five runs on three hits. Eloy Suarez and Jayden Patel each delivered two-run doubles, while Kondrad added another RBI single to make it 6-0.
Frontier answered emphatically in the bottom of the second, erupting for nine runs on six hits to take a 9-6 lead. The highlight of the inning came from Josh French, who tripled to drive in three runs.
Parkland responded in the fourth, reclaiming the lead at 10-9 after Nick Guidici launched a three-run home run to left field.
The Bobcats battled back once again in the bottom of the fourth. Garrett Schmidt doubled to score two runs, and Asa Dunlevey drew a bases-loaded walk to push Frontier ahead 12-10.
Frontier added to its lead in the sixth when Kasey Lowe connected on a two-run home run to left field.
Nate Stivers earned the win for FCC, allowing just one hit and one run over two and two-thirds innings while striking out two and walking one. Seth Harris also contributed in relief with a scoreless inning.
At the plate, Frontier was led by Garrett Schmidt, who went 3-for-4 from the seven spot in the lineup. Schmidt, French, Chase Loesch, and Dunlevey each drove in three runs. Jordan Carter added two hits in two at-bats and swiped four bases as the Bobcats totaled six stolen bases.
FCC showed strong plate discipline, drawing 14 walks, with Loesch and Lowe leading the way with three each. The Bobcats were also sharp defensively, turning three double plays and committing no errors. Dunlevey led the team with 10 chances in the field.
Parkland was paced by Kondrad, who collected three hits in five at-bats. The Cobras also drew 10 walks, with Matt Knapczyk, Guidici, and Cody DelFavero each earning two free passes.
With the win over Parkland, the Bobcats are 22-12 overall. They travel to Belleville to play Southwestern Illinois tomorrow with first pitch scheduled at 3 p.m. The game is weather permitting.
