Bio
Coach McCue is entering his 3rd season as head coach of the bobcats for the 2024-2025 season. The 2023-2024 was one of the most accomplished teams in program history. Along with 32 wins and a regional semi final berth, the bobcats boasted a 3.56 team GPA which was good for 9th nationally in the NJCAA out of over 300 programs and an NJCAA all-academic team certificate. 23 players were named to the NJCAA academic all-american team with a GPA above a 3.6. 17 sophomores moved on to four year programs to continue their education including 9 signing with NCAA D1 programs. 2024 was also the first time in program history that the bobcats won at least one game against every team in the competitive region 24.
In his first campaign with the bobcats, Coach McCue took over the program in October of 2022 with a depleted roster. The team was still able to accomplish a great deal on and off the field. 25 wins was the 3rd most in program history. The bobcats also had the first win over a ranked opponent in school history defeating #11 ranked Pensacola State. Off the field, the team had a 3.38 team GPA good for yet another NJCAA all-academic team certificate. 17 players were named NJCAA academic all americans, and 8 sophomores moved on to continues their careers at 4 year schools.
Coach McCue comes to Frontier from Springdale, Arkansas where he was the head coach and the Athletic Director for Ecclesia College. He brings a wealth of knowledge with him. His seasons at Ecclesia yielded more than 30 wins each year, multiple weeks ranked nationally in the National Christian College Athletic Association polls and included two trips to the NCCAA World Series. Individually, he had four student athletes named all-Americans, 11 to all central region team, and 11 scholar athletes. His team at Ecclesia earned a 2021 berth in the NCCAA world series and his offense broke records for HR’s, 2B’s, runs/game, batting average and extra base hits. From a culture perspective, his philosophies center around the development of student athletes both on and off the field to ensure the best preparation for their future endeavors.
As a player, Coach McCue began his career at New River Community College. During his time at NRCC, He set multiple individual program records, including single season batting average, and career batting average. Following the 2011 season he transferred to Saint Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina. During his time there he was a two-year starter in the outfield and a relief pitcher. He was named to the all-conference team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in 2013. McCue also spent two summers in 2013 and 2014 playing independent professional baseball in New Mexico and Ohio.
Matt McCue graduated from Saint Andrews University with a Bachelor of Arts in History in December, 2015. He received his Master's in Ministry from Carolina University in 2020. He married his wife, Kelsey, in 2015 and they have three kids. Anne, born in 2019, Calvin, born in 2022, and Lucy, born in 2024.
