Bobcats Drop Four in Season-Opening Road Trip
The Frontier Community College Bobcats Softball team opened the 2026 season on the road, traveling to Booneville, Mississippi on Thursday and Friday, February 12–13 for four games at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Dyersburg State 10, Frontier 9
The Bobcats dropped a heartbreaker in their season opener, falling 10-9 to Dyersburg State despite outhitting the Lady Eagles 10-9.
Frontier struck first in the top of the first when Alicia Stanley singled home a run. However, Dyersburg State answered with a four-run second inning and extended the lead in the third behind extra-base hits from Ella Chilton and Jazmyn Watkins.
Trailing by six runs, the Bobcats showed resilience. In the fourth, Kyndall Webb lifted a sacrifice fly and Hessi Johnson blasted a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 7-4. Frontier then exploded for five runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-7 lead, highlighted by a two-run double from Rylee Hendricks.
Dyersburg State tied the game in the bottom of the fifth and reclaimed the lead in the sixth on an RBI double from McKenzie O'Brien.
Johnson led the Bobcats at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Hendricks and Stanley also collected two hits each. Emmy Vinson started in the circle, with Chloe Papineau taking the loss in relief.
Mineral Area 7, Frontier 3
In game two Thursday, Frontier fell 7-3 to Mineral Area College.
The Bobcats once again scored first when Rylee Hendricks drove in a run in the opening inning. Hendricks continued her strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 and driving in two runs. She later doubled to tie the game at 2-2 in the third.
However, Mineral Area responded with a four-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run triple from Ana Turner.
Lexi Miller took the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) over four innings while striking out four. Peyton Smith added speed on the bases with three stolen bases as the Bobcats swiped three bags in the contest.
NEMCC 9, Frontier 6
On Friday, the Bobcats battled the host school and jumped out to an early lead.
Frontier plated four runs in the second inning behind RBI efforts from Riley Baumgart, Alicia Stanley, and a two-run double from Harper Holeman. Peyton Smith added two more runs in the third with a triple down the right-field line, giving the Bobcats a five-run advantage.
But Northeast Mississippi rallied. Chloe Skelton delivered the decisive blow with a go-ahead home run in the fifth as the Tigers completed the comeback.
Peyton Smith led Frontier offensively, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Holeman and Smith each drove in two runs. Chloe Papineau started in the circle, and Lexi Miller was charged with the loss in relief.
Mineral Area 5, Frontier 1
Frontier wrapped up the weekend with a 5-1 loss to Mineral Area.
The Greyhounds scored in each of the first three innings, including a home run from Ana Turner in the third. Emmy Vinson went four innings in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned).
Kyndall Webb and Peyton Smith accounted for Frontier's two hits in the contest.
Looking Ahead
The Bobcats begin the season 0-4 but showed flashes of offensive production and fight throughout the opening weekend.
Frontier will look to pick up its first win of the season when the team travels to Oxford, Alabama for the JUCO Extravaganza Series February 19–21. The Bobcats' home opener is set for Wednesday, February 25 at Southwest Park against St. Charles Community College.
