Frontier Drops Twinbill to St. Charles in Home Opener
The Frontier Community College Bobcats Softball team opened the home portion of its schedule Wednesday at Southwest Park, falling to St. Charles Community College in both games of the doubleheader.

Game 1 – St. Charles 13, Frontier 6
Despite a strong performance at the plate from Alicia Stanley, the Frontier Bobcats fell 13-6 in the home opener at Southwest Park.
Stanley went 3-for-4, singling in the first and second innings and doubling in the sixth to lead FCC offensively.
St. Charles broke the game open in the top of the second inning with a big offensive surge. Emily Budd drove in two runs with a single, Hayli Venable and Emily Parsons each added RBI singles, and Kodie VanEycke capped the inning with a three-run home run to right field.
The Cougars added two more runs in the third when Hannah Cantrell singled to center, extending the lead to 10-4.
Chloe Papineau provided steady relief for Frontier Community College, tossing five innings while allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Emmy Vinson took the loss after allowing eight runs over two innings of work.
The Bobcats collected 12 hits in the contest, with Hessi Johnson and Riley Baumgart joining Stanley with multiple-hit games. Frontier also turned one double play defensively.
St. Charles totaled 15 hits, led by Emily Budd's four RBIs from the seventh spot in the lineup. Ella Lause, Budd, and VanEycke each recorded three hits for the Cougars.
Game 2 – St. Charles 12, Frontier 3
In the nightcap of the home opener at Southwest Park, Frontier Community College could not keep pace with St. Charles, falling 12-3.
The Cougars struck early in the second inning when Mallory Kimbrell doubled home two runs and Addy Thornton added an RBI single. St. Charles added another run in the third on a Chloe Turnbull walk to make it 4-1.
A five-run fourth inning extended the Cougars' advantage. Maddy Siefert doubled in a run, another two-run double followed, and Turnbull added an RBI single.
Frontier showed power in the bottom of the fourth as Harper Holeman and Hessi Johnson each blasted solo home runs to left field.
Lexi Miller took the loss for the Bobcats, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits over four innings while striking out six and walking five. Lexie Griggs earned the win for St. Charles, permitting three runs on four hits over five innings.
Johnson, Rylee Hendricks, Holeman, Peyton Smith, and Stanley each recorded a hit for Frontier. Johnson, Riley Baumgart, and Holeman each drove in a run. The Bobcats turned one double play defensively.
St. Charles finished with 14 hits, with Addy Thornton and Mallory Kimbrell collecting three hits apiece. Kimbrell led the Cougars with three RBIs.
With the losses, the Frontier Community College Bobcats Softball team moves to 0-6 overall. Frontier will return to action Tuesday, March 3, on the road against East Central College in Union, Missouri. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
