During the regular season, WVC swept Frontier in Mt. Carmel and later at Southwest Park, giving FCC a chance to avenge those earlier losses in postseason play. In the end, Wabash Valley came away with a 5-0 victory.
The Warriors opened the scoring in the first inning when Ripley Anderson homered to left field, driving in three runs.
Chloe Papineau started in the circle for the Bobcats. The right-hander allowed nine hits and five runs, three earned, over six innings. She struck out three and walked one.
Olivia Hemmerle earned the win for Wabash Valley. She allowed two hits over seven scoreless innings, striking out six and walking none.
Emmy Vinson and Peyton Smith each collected one hit for Frontier.
Anderson led WVC at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Easton Wampler, Mireya Rose, and Anderson each finished with two hits for the Warriors. Wabash Valley also played error-free defense, with Danika Dix recording a team-high six chances in the field.
With the loss, FCC will face Kaskaskia at 9:30 a.m. this morning at SWIC. With a win, the Bobcats would advance to play Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. A loss would end Frontier's season, as the Region 24 Tournament is double elimination.
