Big Third Inning Lifts Volunteers Past Bobcats
Coming off a win over Kaskaskia on Wednesday, the Bobcats made their way back to Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville on Thursday morning to face John A. Logan in an elimination game at the Region 24 postseason tournament.

The Volunteers entered the matchup after falling to Spoon River on Wednesday, setting up a high-stakes contest with both teams fighting to keep their seasons alive.
Sometimes a big inning is all it takes to not only get an offense going, but to establish control of the game. For John A. Logan, that moment came in the third inning, as the Volunteers used a five-run frame to defeat Frontier 8-0 on Thursday.
John A. Logan broke through in the bottom of the third when Lauryn Adamson singled to score one run, Lyla Hess followed with an RBI single, and Payton Nicholson doubled to bring in two more runs. Jersey Summers later hit into a double play, but another run crossed the plate to extend the JALC lead.
Maggie Stadler earned the win for John A. Logan. The starter allowed two hits and no runs over five innings while striking out 10 and walking none. Lexi Miller took the loss for Frontier. Miller went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits while striking out three and walking none.
Kyndall Webb and Emmy Vinson each collected one hit for the Bobcats. Frontier also turned one double play in the game.
John A. Logan finished with 12 hits. Adamson led the Volunteers with three RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Presley Trogolo, Katie Futrell, Ava Adcock, Adamson, and Hess each recorded two hits for JALC. Trogolo and Adcock each stole multiple bases, helping the Volunteers finish with five stolen bases. John A. Logan also played clean defensively, committing no errors, with Adcock recording a team-high 10 plays.
With the loss, FCC's season comes to an end with a 20-36 overall record. Coach Jeremy Ellis and the Bobcats thank everyone who supported the team throughout the season and attended games both at home and on the road.
