The Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team powered past Rend Lake College in four sets on Tuesday night, improving to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in Region 24 play. After dropping the opening set, the Bobcats roared back to defeat the Warriors by scores of 22-25, 25-9, 25-21, 25-19. Rend Lake fell to 2-5 on the season.
Freshman outside hitter Lily Spark reflected on the win:
"It was a good game. We came out a little slow at the start, but we managed to pick up our pace. Once we found our flow, we came out pretty hard. Rend Lake fought back, but once we got moving, we played well."
The Bobcats' presence at the net, both with their blocking and defensive play, stood out throughout the match. Setters Camdyn Tappendorf, Arlissa Sharber, and Sarah McCorkle kept the offense balanced by spreading the ball to hitters across the court. Strong setter-to-hitter connections opened scoring opportunities and kept the Warriors' defense on its heels.
Freshman middle hitter/right side Jenna Abusharbain credited her connection with her setter:
"You must pay attention to your hitters and where the pass goes and really grow those connections with your setters. Me and Camdyn Tappendorf have an amazing connection."
Up next, the Bobcats return to action on Thursday, September 4, when they host Lincoln Trail at 6:30 p.m. inside Center Street School in Fairfield. The Statesmen enter at 5-2 overall. Fans are encouraged to wear their black and yellow to support the Bobcats. For those unable to attend, the match will be streamed live on Bobcat Nation YouTube—powered by RJ Marketing.
