The Bobcats returned to Region 24 play on Wednesday night in Centralia, following their appearance at the East Central Conference Tournament in Union, Missouri. Frontier squared off against the Kaskaskia College Blue Angels for the first time this season, but the hosts came away with a straight-set victory. Kaskaskia claimed the match 25-19, 25-14, 25-19, improving to 9-1 overall, while the Bobcats dropped to 8-5.
Frontier now turns its attention to the Lake Land Tournament in Mattoon, Illinois, set for Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats will take on No. 16 Mineral Area College on Friday, September 12, at 3 p.m., followed by No. 17 Indian Hills Community College on Saturday, September 13, at 11 a.m. Both opponents were ranked in the latest NJCAA Division I volleyball poll released earlier this week. Mineral Area enters the weekend undefeated at 10-0, while Indian Hills carries a 7-3 mark.
The Bobcats are already familiar with Mineral Area, having met the Cardinals on Friday, August 29, at the Jimmy John's Invite hosted by Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. In that contest, Mineral Area came out on top in three sets, 25-15, 25-22, 25-16.
