Bobcats Face Ranked Opponents, Fall to Lake Land
The Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team battled two nationally ranked opponents last week at the Lake Land Tournament in Mattoon, Illinois.
The Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team battled two nationally ranked opponents last week at the Lake Land Tournament in Mattoon, Illinois. Frontier faced #16 Mineral Area College and #17 Indian Hills Community College, both members of the NJCAA Division I Top 20 poll.
On Friday, September 12, the Bobcats took on Mineral Area, falling in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-11. The following day, Frontier met Indian Hills, dropping three sets 25-11, 25-13, 25-21.
After the tournament, Frontier returned home on Monday, September 15, to host the Lake Land College Lakers in Fairfield. Although both teams had faced Mineral Area and Indian Hills over the weekend, they had not played each other until the matchup. Lake Land earned the sweep over Frontier, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19. With the loss, the Bobcats moved to 8-8 overall, while the Lakers improved to 6-7 on the season.
The Bobcats look to bounce back tonight, Wednesday, September 17, when they host the Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) Blue Storm at Center Street School. SWIC enters with an 8-6 overall record and is coming off a three-set loss to John A. Logan on Monday, 26-28, 17-25, 18-25. Tonight's match will be streamed live on Bobcat Nation, with pre-game coverage beginning at around 6:20 p.m. and first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
