Bobcats Outlast Rend Lake in Five-Set Battle

The Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team traveled to Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, on Monday, October 6, earning a hard-fought five-set victory over the Warriors. Frontier defeated Rend Lake 25-19, 28-26, 22-25, 22-25, 15-11. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 13-11 overall and 7-5 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC).
Offensively, Lily Spark led the charge with 19 kills, while Evan Polsgrove and Cassidy King each added 10. Setter Camdyn Tappendorf tallied 29 assists, and Sarah McCorkle contributed 21. On defense, Spark and Riley Roark each recorded 18 digs, followed by Tinlea Webb with 15 and Tappendorf with 11. At the net, Ylayna Olivera posted five solo blocks, and Jenna Abusharbain added four.
The Bobcats continue their GRAC slate on the road tonight at Lincoln Trail College. First serve is at 6:30 p.m. The Statesmen enter the matchup at 12-7 overall and 6-6 in conference play, coming off a five-set loss to John A. Logan College on Monday. Frontier will then travel to Harrisburg on Friday to face the Southeastern Illinois College Falcons.
