Battle-Tested Bobcats Head to Missouri for Districts

The Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team came up short against Lake Land College on Saturday, November 1, falling in four sets (21-25, 25-8, 25-22, 25-11). With the loss, Frontier moved to 19-18 overall on the season. 

Offensively, Lily Spark led the way for the Bobcats with 10 kills, followed by Evan Polsgrove with 7 and Elliana Ames with 5. Camdyn Tappendorf distributed 12 assists, while Sarah McCorkle added 11. Defensively, Riley Roark paced the back row with 13 digs, with Tappendorf close behind at 12 and Tinlea Webb recording 11. At the net, McCorkle registered 3 solo blocks and Ylayna Olivera added 2. 

Lake Land went on to win the Region 24 Tournament following their victory over Frontier, defeating John A. Logan in three sets and Vincennes University in four to capture their first Region 24 title since 2014. 

The Bobcats will now shift their focus to the NJCAA Division I District B Championship, held at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri.

Frontier opens play against Vincennes University (29-9) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8. The teams split their regular-season matchups—Vincennes won in four sets on August 23, while the Bobcats evened the series with a four-set victory on October 23. 

Other teams competing in the District B Championship include host #15 Mineral Area (25-2), Southwestern Illinois (20-12), #19 Iowa Western (27-9), and Olive-Harvey (17-15).
