Bobcats Edged by Raiders in Ninth Inning
The Frontier Community College Bobcats came up just short Tuesday afternoon, falling 5-4 to the Three Rivers College Raiders on a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth inning at Mountain Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.

FCC appeared to be in position for the win, but Three Rivers rallied late to erase a 4-3 deficit. In the final frame, Kayson Becker singled to bring in a run, Dax Webb drew a walk with the bases loaded to force in another, and Matt Gardner delivered the game-winning two-run single.
Despite the loss, the Frontier Bobcats out-hit the Raiders 12-8. Josh French, Cam Napier, Jordan Carter, and Sean McConachie each recorded two hits to lead the FCC offense.
Frontier first broke through in the top of the sixth inning when Mayes Gosser drove in a run with a groundout. Three Rivers responded in the bottom half of the inning as Trey Gardner doubled to left field to tie the game at 1-1.
The Bobcats regained the lead in the seventh inning after a Raiders error and an RBI groundout by Sean McConachie each brought in a run. Napier added insurance in the eighth inning with a solo home run to left field.
Braxton Mathews started on the mound for Frontier Community College and delivered a strong outing. The right-hander allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings while striking out five and walking three. Seth Harris took the loss in relief for FCC.
Napier, Gosser, and McConachie each drove in a run for the Bobcats, who also turned one double play defensively.
With the result, Frontier Community College moves to 13-5 overall on the season.
The FCC Bobcats will return to action at FNB Field on Friday, March 6, when Frontier hosts Lake Land College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday but has been pushed back one day.
