The Frontier Bobcats used a pair of explosive innings to surge past the SIC Falcons, 18-3, on Thursday.
After SIC grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning—highlighted by a two-run double from Fernando Andujar and an error that plated another run—FCC responded in a big way.
The Bobcats flipped the momentum in the bottom of the fourth, erupting for eight runs on six hits to take a 9-3 lead. The key moment came when Jordan Carter delivered a clutch two-out single after a six-pitch at-bat, driving in three runs.
Frontier wasn't done.
In the sixth inning, the Bobcats put the game out of reach with another eight-run frame on five hits. Gael Salinas doubled in a run, Mayes Gosser added a sacrifice fly, and Cam Napier tripled to bring home two. Moments later, Chase Loesch delivered the exclamation point—launching a grand slam to center field to cap off a four-RBI performance.
On the mound, Aaron Buffington earned the win for FCC, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just three hits, striking out three, and walking one. Braxton Mathews got the start for Frontier, giving up three runs (two earned) over two innings. Miles Whitesell added a dominant inning of relief, striking out three without allowing a hit.
Offensively, the Bobcats racked up 16 hits. Jordan Carter, batting seventh, led Frontier with a perfect 4-for-4 performance. Napier, Justin Early, Salinas, and Asa Dunlevey each added multiple hits as FCC's lineup stayed hot throughout the game. The Bobcats also turned five double plays defensively.
For the Falcons, Andujar led the way with two RBIs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Yadnel Segarra and Eliezer Chevere also recorded two hits apiece for SIC.
