Frontier Earns Hard-Fought Victory at Home Against Lincoln Trail
Following a split last Friday against Southwestern Illinois College, the Frontier Community College Bobcats baseball team looked to carry momentum into Tuesday’s matchup against Illinois Eastern Community Colleges rival Lincoln Trail at FNB Field.

FCC came away with an 8-6 victory over the Statesmen.
Frontier opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning behind a pair of singles. Cam Napier delivered the first run of the game with an RBI single to give the Bobcats an early lead.
Lincoln Trail responded in the top of the third, as Bryce Brabender singled to help the Statesmen even the score at 2-2.
The Bobcats regained the lead in the bottom of the third when Gael Salinas grounded out, bringing in a run to make it 3-2.
LT answered again in the fifth, taking a 4-3 lead after a Frontier error and a sacrifice fly by Gabe Wilke each brought in a run.
Frontier responded in the bottom half of the inning, reclaiming the lead at 5-4 with a pair of runs coming across on fielder's choices.
Gavyn Harrell earned the win for FCC, tossing two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit or run. Isaac Waggner took the loss for Lincoln Trail, allowing five runs (four earned) over five innings. Jonny Lee started on the mound for the Bobcats, giving up six hits and four runs (three earned) over four and one-third innings while striking out three. Braxton Mathews secured the save.
Kasey Lowe led Frontier at the plate with two hits in three at-bats. Josh French, Cam Napier, Jordan Carter, Mayes Gosser, Gael Salinas, Asa Dunlevey, and Lowe each drove in a run. French and Carter each swiped multiple bases, helping the Bobcats total four steals in the game.
Lincoln Trail finished with nine hits, led by Drew McTagertt and Jaxon Herrera with two apiece. Adam Newell and Brabender each recorded two RBIs, while Pernell Whittsett added two stolen bases as the Statesmen totaled three steals.
With the win, Frontier improves to 24-14 overall. The Bobcats return to action Thursday at home against Olney Central with first pitch set for 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on the Bobcat Nation YouTube channel and is weather permitting.
