Both teams delivered strong performances on the mound, but RLC was able to capitalize offensively in a 2-0 win over FCC.
The Warriors broke through in the third inning when Brendan McKinley connected on a two-run home run to center field, accounting for the only runs of the game.
Landon Davis turned in a solid outing for Frontier, going six innings while allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. He recorded 18 outs in the contest.
Eli Maynor earned the win for Rend Lake, tossing seven and one-third shutout innings while allowing four hits, striking out eight, and walking three.
Offensively, the Bobcats were limited to four hits, with Josh French, Dillon James, Sean McConachie, and Kasey Lowe each recording one. FCC played clean defense throughout, turning one double play and committing no errors. McConachie led the defensive effort with 10 chances.
RLC was paced by McKinley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs from the nine spot in the lineup. Carson Wort, McKinley, and Seth Parsons each collected two hits. The Warriors also turned a double play and were error-free defensively, with Joseph Derrick leading the way with eight chances.
With the loss, Frontier falls to 27-16 overall and 13-11 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
