Sedalia Sweep: Bobcats Take Two from State Fair

Game 1 – Bobcats 16, State Fair 8
Dillon James drove in four runs on three hits to power FCC to a 16-8 victory in the opener. James singled in the second to score two, blasted a solo homer to center in the first, and doubled home another run in the fourth.
Both offenses were productive, as the Bobcats collected seven hits while the Roadrunners tallied eight in the high-scoring contest.
The Bobcats wasted no time, opening the scoring in the first inning behind three home runs. Gael Salinas put FCC on the board with a three-run shot to center.
State Fair answered with three runs in the bottom of the first on a Connor Rice homer.
FCC broke things open in the second, scoring five runs. Cam Napier drew a bases-loaded walk, James added a two-run single, and an error brought home two more.
The Bobcats added five more runs in the fourth on three hits, highlighted by RBI doubles from James and Mayes Gosser, an RBI single by Jordan Carter, and a wild pitch that plated another run.
Malachi Antle hit a two-run homer for the Roadrunners in the bottom of the fourth.
Landon Davis earned the win for the Bobcats, allowing seven hits and eight runs (five earned) over four innings while striking out eight. Miles Whitesell was strong in relief, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
FCC showed patience at the plate with seven walks. Josh French, Cam Napier, and Sean McConachie each drew two. Kasey Lowe swiped two bases as the Bobcats totaled five steals.
Connor Rice led State Fair with three RBIs, while Rice, Dayton Doll, and Antle each recorded two hits.
Game 2 – FCC 6, State Fair 4
Ian-Olivier Beaulieu struck out 10 and delivered a strong outing on the mound to lead the Bobcats to a 6-4 win and the doubleheader sweep.
State Fair struck first in the opening inning on a sacrifice fly by Malachi Antle.
The Bobcats answered in the second when Mayes Gosser homered to center and Josh French lined an RBI single down the left-field line to make it 2-1.
FCC added another run in the third on a Dillon James groundout.
The Roadrunners tied the game in the bottom of the third with two home runs, including a solo shot by Dayton Doll.
Kasey Lowe delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth to put the Bobcats back on top, but State Fair evened things again in the bottom half on a solo homer by Albert Salguera.
Justin Early provided the decisive swing in the sixth with a solo homer to right, giving FCC a 5-4 advantage. Seth Harris later secured the save.
The Bobcats finished with 11 hits, led by leadoff hitter Josh French, who went 3-for-4.
Salguera drove in two runs for the Roadrunners, while Doll collected three hits from the leadoff spot.
With the sweep, the Bobcats improve to 10-3 overall. FCC returns to the diamond today in Sedalia for another doubleheader against State Fair Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
